Hunting the Mastermind: Israel’s Determination to Apprehend Yahya Sinwar, Labeled ‘Palestine’s Osama Bin Laden
Since October 7, over 3,200 people have been killed on both sides of the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group.
On Saturday, the Israeli military pledged to eliminate Yahya Sinwar, the alleged mastermind behind the October 7 attack that killed over 1,300 Israelis. A spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) described him as “Palestine’s Osama bin Laden” and the “face of evil”
“Like Bin Laden, he is the mastermind behind this plot… As soon as he realized that they were collaborators, he began executing Palestinians. Thus, he became known as the Khan Younis butcher. We will not stop until we locate and eliminate him. This individual and his entire team are in our sights, as reported by the UK Daily Mail, according to the IDF.
Sinwar is a US-designated terrorist and the current leader of Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. He served two years in prison and was the most senior of 1,026 Palestinian prisoners released in 2011 in exchange for the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who had been held captive by Hamas for five years.
Earlier, the Israeli military reported killing two more Hamas commanders during the ongoing conflict. On Sunday, the military announced that it had slain a second Hamas leader responsible for the homicidal assaults on the Israeli border towns of Nirim and Nir Oz.
Since the October 7 attack by the Hamas militant group on Israel, over 3,200 people have died on both sides of the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Hamas militant group. In retaliation, Israel launched airstrikes against Gaza, murdering 2,329 Palestinians and wounding more than 9000. According to the IDF, over 1,300 Israeli civilians and 279 IDF personnel have been slain in the conflict.
On Sunday morning, the Israeli Defense Forces signaled their readiness for a ground offensive. However, they stated that the conflict was against the terrorist organization Hamas and not the Gazan population.
