Militants cross into Israel from Gaza after Israeli airstrikes kill Palestinian woman

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday that several militants from Gaza have entered Israeli land. This comes just hours after a barrage of rockets killed one person and hurt at least three others.

The terrorist Palestinian group Hamas said it was behind the rocket attack.
President Muhammad Al-Deif of Hamas’ military said in a recorded message that the group had launched operation “Al-Aqsa Storm” and “targeted enemy positions, airports, and military positions with 5,000 rockets.”

Israelis who live close to Gaza have been told by the IDF to stay inside.
The Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service in Israel said that a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza toward Israel early Saturday morning killed one person and hurt at least three others.

Some reporters also saw the rockets in Gaza, which set off sirens in many places, from the area around Tel Aviv in the north to Beer Sheva in the east, and everywhere in between.

The attack killed a woman in her 70s in Kfar Aviv, which is in the Gderot region, the MDA said.
The rescue service said that two more people in the Ashkelon area were lightly hurt and that a guy in his 20s in Yavne was moderately hurt by shrapnel.

The rockets were fired around 6:30 a.m. local time (11:30 p.m. ET) on Saturday, when most Israelis would have been sleeping.

Netanyahu’s office said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant are conducting security assessments at Defense Forces headquartersin Tel Aviv.
