Kari Lake Declares Candidacy for Arizona

Former News Anchor Kari Lake Makes Waves: Declares Candidacy for Arizona Senate Seat

As of Tuesday, Kari Lake announced her run for the Arizona Senate. She is the clear choice to win the GOP nomination for the spot held by Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.).

In the Republican primary, Lake will run against Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb. Lake is a supporter of Trump and has said she didn’t lose the race for governor of Arizona last year. It’s been a week since Lake officially filed to run in the important swing state.

“I’m sick and tired of seeing our politicians back down from every big fight.” She told her fans on Tuesday night, “They’re cowards,” and she promised to be the most “pro-America senator in the whole country.”

“That’s how we got into this mess; they gave up way too many hills.” “Right now we’re on the last hill, and I’m not giving up this hill,” she said.

In a video shared on his Truth Social page, Trump quickly backed Lake in the GOP primary.
In a film that was longer than two minutes, he said, “When I’m back in the White House, I need strong fighters like Kari in the Senate.”

On the Democratic side, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) is running, but Sinema hasn’t said anything about her plans. NBC News said last month that her campaign team had been passing around a document that showed how Democrats, Republicans, and independents could help her get re-elected.

Gallego talked about Lake’s failed GOP run for governor in a statement released after Lake’s announcement. He said that Lake was focusing on “the very real problems that affect Arizona families.”

“People in Arizona know who Kari Lake is, which is why they turned her down the first time.” “While she uses the same old tricks to attack our democracy and try to ban abortion, I’m focused on solving the real problems that Arizona families face, like making sure we have enough jobs that pay well and taking care of our veterans,” he said.

There would be a tough race for a seat between Sinema and two other candidates if she runs again. Both Republicans and Democrats see this spot as important for deciding the balance of power in the Senate next term.

A poll from Noble Predictive Insights looked at a race between Gallego, Sinema, and Lake, and a poll from Emerson College Polling looked at a race between Gallego, Sinema, and Lamb. Both polls showed that Gallego would win both races. But 15% of people who answered both polls said they weren’t sure.

“The Senate Republicans’ worst nightmare is Lake’s campaign announcement.” Her policies and beliefs are dangerous: she wants to ban all abortions, end Medicare and Social Security, and believe in crazy plots that are not shared by most Arizonans.

Even Republicans didn’t want Lake to run because voters turned her down before, and they will do so again in 2024, according to a statement from Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), who is in charge of the Senate Democrats’ campaign arm.
